Nabil “Bill” Jurney has voiced several books for HearTheWritings.com including Tablets of Bahá’u’llah & The 2011 Ridván Message from The Universal House of Justice.
If you are an American Bahá’i you may recognize Nabil Jurney’s voice from The U.S. Baha’i Newsreel. Born in North Carolina, Nabil is a fifth-generation Bahá’i who began reading aloud from the Bahá’i Holy writings at an early age. His grandmother Rafieh Shahidi Mansour (who had been in the presence of Bahá’u’llah as a child) lived with the family when Nabil was a boy and had a great influence on his life. His Persian mother “Vedad” and American father “David” encouraged their son’s interests in radio and broadcasting. Nabil studied Speech at East Carolina University and Communications at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he received a B.A.
After working in radio in the Carolinas and Atlanta he got an opportunity of a lifetime and was hired as the staff promo voice for CNN Headline News where he worked for five years and received a Gold Addy Award for Turner Advertising. After CNN he lived in New York City where he pursued voice acting and was active in the Bahá’i communities of New York City and New Rochelle, NY.
Nabil currently resides in Los Angeles and has been voicing film trailers, narrations, commercials, and other projects; many from his home studio. Some of Nabil’s other credits include projects for Disney, Miramax, Roadside Attractions, Farmer’s Insurance, Reader’s Digest, The Ronald Reagan Museum, and the audio book “Hafez: The Revealer of All Secrets”. Nabil enjoys coaching and mentoring up-and-coming voice actors. It is his wish to record many more Bahá’i audio books.
